Summer Sun. Good Wine. Good Friends. Could I really ask for more?
I had a great weekend! I spent Saturday afternoon with some friends at the Clifton Wine Festival. 16 Wineries with Free tastings, live music, and yummy food vendors (we got tickets online for $22, so a pretty good deal overall for all those tastings) I don't even think we tasted all 16 - that would be a lot of wine! It was such a great opportunity because there were wineries that came from further South than I would really want to go for a day trip.
I ended up buying two bottles of wine on Saturday - although I was super tempted to buy more...
I bought the Gov. Fauqier from Philip Carter Winery in Hume, Va. This is an off-dry white with 1% residual sugar. It was so refreshing during the tasting I could just imagine drinking this on a hot summer day. There weren't many wines I tasted that I knew I wanted to go back and buy at the end of the day, but this one - Delish.

I also bought the Brandy Station Dulce wine from Rogers Ford Winery. This wine is 18% alcohol. You read that right...18%. (Think Sherry Style). I never had anything like this, so I had to buy it.
Steph and I agreed to share the bottle one weekend. Needless to say - more than one glass and we'll be feeling it. It's mostly Vidal with a little bit of Chardonnay and Vigonier. Can't wait to break this one open.

As a side note - we had the discussion that we wish there was a centralized list of all the fun things to do in the Metro/DC area. Sure, Washington Post has the going out guide and Washingtonian has their own list - but it never seems to be exhaustive. Nothing sucks worse than finding out you missed a really cool festival or event that you didn't even know about. Am I missing some amazing site out there?
